Lower Owens River

Payahuunadü, “place of flowing water” commonly known as the Lower Owens.

The Lower Owens river is one of the most exploratory, under rated and fantastic rivers to fish in the Eastern Sierra resting at around 4,200 ft. The Lower Owens snakes its way from Pleasant Valley Reservoir through the 16 mile “Wild Trout Section” and eventually dumps into Owens lake below Big Pine around 183 miles later. This is a fragile and delicate tributary as water rights have been battled over for many years, requiring us as anglers to have a minimum impact. At times while wading through the lower you might find yourself getting lost in the dense and lush rhythm of life surrounding the stream. It’s not uncommon to put up some high hook up numbers on this river during the right times of year. Book Now
